 On Saturday (7/11) and Sunday (7/12) there is a Skimboard contest in Kill Devil Hills, NC. Here are the details taken from the Skim City website:

Ok, flying in? You need to be looking at flying into Norfolk, VA, NOT into Raleigh, NC. Next, while there is a shuttle to and fro the Norfolk airport, renting a car (or copping a ride from one of the local skimmers) is a good idea as the only transportation on the OBX is a cab ($$$). 

Mom and dad, the contest will be somewhere in Kill Devil Hills. Where? I won't know until the Friday before the contest. Now, now, it's ok. Remember, it's about having the contest at the best site so the kids have the most fun. Isn't that worth walking (or driving) a couple of extra blocks? Sure it is.

Next, the people at the Sea Ranch Hotel (MP 7ish on the little road) are hooking us up this year.
Did you stay at the Sea Ranch last year? It was right down the beach from where the contest was and MIGHT be again this year. Well, if you did you can get 20% off this year. All you have to do is show them a receipt from last years visit.

You're on the OBX with nothing to do - hit up Pet Gallery, across the street from The Pit (the OBX home to Skim City. Oh, and make sure you grab some grub at The Pit. And there's a nightclub there, too. Friday night is teen night if you're into it.
